What’s covered in the Antenatal Classes?
Our classes, now welcoming you in the lovely Bourton-on-the-Water, are a supportive, non-biased and friendly space where we work to empower you in making the right decisions for you, your baby and your family. We not only go into the whole of the labour and birth process, but we work to support you in making well-informed decisions regarding your birth preferences, acquire practical skills for the early stages of parenting, and discover strategies to support a positive and healthy postnatal period.
Following the course, we have the best time in hosting an informal reunion right here in Bourton-on-the-Water, celebrating the arrival of your wonderful babies a few months post-birth. This is a lovely event when we get to celebrate your beautiful babies and the wonderful parents you have all become. All sessions are held in a welcoming, secure and non-judgemental setting. You’ll have direct access to your course tutor’s contact information, enabling you to reach out at any moment during the course and in the first couple of months after birth. We provide additional support and reassurance, because we know this is one of, if not the most, important stages of your life 🙂

FAQs: Bourton-on-the-Water Antenatal Classes
Navigating the journey of pregnancy and early parenthood comes with a plethora of questions! We’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions to hopefully help answer some queries you might have, please do contact us if you have any more though!
-
When should I start antenatal classes?
You can join whenever you want, but we suggest around 30-32 weeks pregnant, or around 8-10 weeks before your baby is due.
-
Will I make friends with people having babies around the same time?
Absolutely! Although we don’t say anyone has to come at a certain week we do suggest around the 30-week mark so often your babies are all due around the same time. And if there’s people earlier or later on in their journey it’s a great way to share wisdom amongst each other.
-
Should dads/birth partners come along?
Definitely! Dads/birth partners are so important in labour and birth and have such an important role that they’re always encouraged to come along to the classes.
-
What should I take to classes?
A pen and paper if you want to take any notes (although there will be an electronic padlet full of information available to you when you join the classes). Anything that makes you feel comfortable – a birth ball, hot water bottle, whatever makes you feel at ease.
-
Do I have to live in Bourton to come to the classes?
No, you can join from anywhere! We have people join from Stow-on-the-wold, Guiting power, Northleach, Moreton-in-marsh, Chipping Norton and beyond.
